You may have heard of the Wesley Uniting Church, Perth, annual Stations of the Cross Art Exhibition.
Each year the exhibition featured newly commissioned artworks by fifteen Western Australian contemporary artists.
The artists were invited to respond to the traditional story of Easter and the ritual of the ‘Stations of the Cross’.
While pertaining to a religious narrative, participating artists each interpret a single ‘station’ through their personal and unique understanding of Easter and the human experiences and themes that underlie it.
Rev Don Dowling compiled a video in 2015 of the Stations of the Cross Art Exibition.
This first video is an introduction to the Stations as well as an interview with Artist Julie Dowling who offers us an interpretation of Station Number one “Jesus is Condemned”
