Three Events Coming Up!

Hi Everyone,

Some exciting events are coming up! Here are three of them:

This Sunday 21 September, we are going to have our ordinary Church Service from 9:30 – 10:05 and then Shairan Khan from our local Indian restaurant (Khana Khazana by Khan) will be joining us for a chat from 10:05-10:30. I’ll be asking him questions like: Tell us about yourself; What does it mean to be a Muslim?; From your perspective; What are the similarities and difference between Islam and Christianity?; Have you experienced Islamophobia in Margaret River?; How can we be supportive of you and the Muslim community in Margaret River? etc. A good one to invite friends to, and it’s fine for them to arrive at 10:05 (that’s when Khan is arriving).

On Sunday 12 October, we will not be having a ‘usual’ Sunday Service but rather a ‘Contemplative Gathering’ which Paul and Lyn Cannon will lead. It will run from 9:30 – 10:10. The experience will be a condensed version of the Contemplative Days they run once a month in Augusta. This will involve sitting in a circle (on chairs) with a centre piece in the middle. There will be a time of silent meditation, some lectio divina with a passage and a poem, a time for reflective response (a choice of journaling, drawing, painting, clay modelling), contemplative music, and a time for sharing. This is also a good one to invite friends to!

On Saturday 25 October, a team from the World Community for Christian Meditation in WA will be coming down from Perth to lead an Introductory Day to Christian Meditation (10:00-15:30). Again, invite your friends who want to learn more about Christian Meditation – the flyer is attached. It’s a great day of learning about the history of Christian Meditation, the practical aspects of practising it, and actually having a go. There will also be a book table – the most exciting bit (for me haha)! Please remember to register here. As a taster, you can share this video with your friends.
