Our congregation joined in a process of the Easter story from Maundy Thursday, through Good Friday to the celebration of the risen Jesus on Sunday.
We began with a time honoured tradition that helps focus on the whole journey of Death to Life. The Maundy Thursday service had several symbolic acts beginning with sharing a simple meal. This is followed by communion, washing of feet or hands and the moving tradition of extinguishing the candles highlighting the soberness of Christ’s journey to the cross.
This was continued on Good Friday with the enactment of the journey Jesus took moving from the betrayal to the crucifixion. Easter Sunday celebrated the powerful event of the resurrection, and this begins the Church world wide and our Church today.
Throughout this experience we came to understand that we all experience the death and resurrection differently. Coming together in this was a deeply
enriching experience..
